I am excited to announce that I will be working on a blog about cooking and food preparation! This is meant to be a helpful resource for you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy cooking and then writing about it. What I am hoping to include are methods to choose and store foods, helpful kitchen tools to use for meal preparation, and easy-to-use recipes that are delicious, full of flavor, and healthy! I will also include little stories here and there when appropriate. These recipes will include fresh and whole foods including vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes, lean meats, and healthy fats. While the main focus is plant-based eating, I also use animal products such as meat, dairy, and eggs to an extent. While there are benefits to following certain dietary restrictions for health related reasons or personal preference, I want this particular blog to include recipes for everyone while still maintaining a healthy and delicious meal plan. Because of this, you can pick and choose which recipes fit your particular preferences and dietary restrictions. Under the Recipes section of my website I do link to other resources where you can find recipes that fit particular food restrictions. Eventually, I may branch out and create my own list of recipes for specific food restrictions or health concerns. But for now, ENJOY and please TRY the recipes I post here if you can!
Right now I am focusing this blog on meals that can be used by a majority of people who don’t have many dietary restrictions (though for many recipes I will provide alternative options for some of the ingredients that can be more problematic or are restricted for many people). Many of the recipes I post will be similar to a Mediterranean diet since I love the food from that region of the world, especially after spending time there as a child, and there are many health benefits to eating this way. And there will be recipes from other regions of the world too! I will do my best to use easy-to-find ingredients and keep the list manageable. One of the reasons I am starting this blog is because I love to cook. Another reason is because I have found some great cookbooks out there which I still love to use, but for my own personal preference they were either too restricted for my personal preference or there were too many difficult ingredients requiring too much time and energy on my part. So, I loved looking at the pictures and wanted to make the recipes, but the reality is that I never did. The main reason though, is to provide YOU with information because I have had many people tell me over the years that they either don’t like cooking, don’t know how to cook, or didn’t like how complicated it was to cook healthy. I hope to show you that it can be easy, fun, delicious, AND healthy to cook for yourself!
